SUCCESSFUL V8 SUPERCAR TEST FOR BRISBANE RACER

Brisbane racing car driver Matthew Bode has taken the next step in his burgeoning motorsport career today by successfully completing a test day with the credentialed V8 Supercar Dunlop Series team, Matt Stone Racing.

A day of testing at Queensland Raceway with the team saw big strides made for the 25 year old engineer from Wellington Point as he seeks to lock down a drive in the 2016 second-tier V8 Supercar category with the MSR outfit.

Also along for the ride today was infamous millionaire ‘The Candyman’ (Travers Beynon) and a number of his ‘goddesses’.

With the relationship with MSR now more than established after today’s results, for Bode the next step is finalising a backer for his 2016 campaign.

“I am currently in negotiations with a major corporate backer for the 2016 series with who I have been talking for a little over 12 months now – putting something like this together is such an involved process, and I am so happy to have the support of Matt Stone and his team behind me as I try and put the final pieces of the puzzle in place for next year,” said Bode.

“I really enjoyed my time in the car today around Queensland Raceway – in just one day I already feel like I have learnt a lot and was really able to develop my technique for these kinds of cars after spending so much time in open wheelers.”

Across 2015, Bode was heavily active within the national Formula Vee championship after years in karting. He was even in contention to take out the title before he was unfortunately involved in someone else’s incident, which saw him move out of touch when it came to the points standings.

Despite this setback, the electrical engineer has been sure never to give up, and is relentlessly pursuing new goals for 2016 and beyond. It is this determination that Matt Stone Racing Principal Matt Stone says he admires in the young racer.

“There is no question that Matt is dedicated to making this happen, and we look forward to hopefully having him on board with us in the future,” said Stone.

“He did a great job at the test day today – these cars are definitely different to what he is used to in the open wheelers but he did a solid job and I have no doubt he will be up to scratch in no time if he can get the funding behind him for more seat time.”

Bode is currently seeking expressions of interest to sponsor a 2016 V8 Supercar Dunlop Series campaign. For more information on his plans and the racer himself, please visit matthewbode.com or contact Matthew on info@matthewbode.com or 0488 100 770.
