KERRICK SPORTS SEDANS CONFIRMS 2016 CALENDAR
The Kerrick Sports Sedan Series will continue its tenure with the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals into 2016, announcing a five-round calendar for what will be its 12th year sponsored by Kerrick.
The 2016 season for the ‘gods of thunder’ will kick off at Sandown Raceway (April 1-3), before heading to Winton Motor Raceway for round two across June 10 to 12.
The tin top field will then head up to Queensland Raceway for round three (July 29-31), before heading back to Victoria for their penultimate round of the year – to be held at Phillip Island across September 9 to 11. The final round of the year will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park across November 11 to 13.
Kerrick Sports Sedan Series category manager Phil Crompton said it was an exciting time for the thunderous sedans.
“The Kerrick Sports Sedan Series is very pleased to be able to announce a five-round calendar with the Shannons Nationals for 2016, continuing the long relationship the category has with the national series while delivering rounds across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland,” said Crompton.
“We have been a part of the Shannons Nationals series since its inception in 2006, and we look forward to an exciting new era ahead for both of us as it moves into its eleventh year.
“We are also very excited to again have the support of Kerrick behind us for a 12thstraight year – their backing is invaluable to us and we are looking forward to putting on a great show for them in 2016.”
The State of Origin concept – allowing competitors to enter two rounds (one of which must be in their home state) for a reduced entry fee and compete for state of origin points – introduced in 2014 will also return.
“With the continued support of valued sponsors Kerrick, the category continues to be strong and we look forward to welcoming new competitors to both our national competition and the State of Origin class across the year,” said Crompton.

The Kerrick Sports Sedan Series is one of the most exciting on the annual Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals calendar, pitting a range of ‘wild and winged’ modified sports sedans and trans-ams against each other. Part of The Nationals since its inception in 2006, the Kerrick Sports Sedans represent the fastest tin-tops in Australia and in some cases, the fastest outright cars on a number of national circuits. In 2016, the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series will contest five national circuit racing events across four states:
- Round One - Sandown Raceway, April 1-3
- Round Two - Winton Raceway, June 10-12
- Round Three - Queensland Raceway, July 29-31
- Round Four - Phillip Island, September 9-11
- Round Five - Sydney Motorsport Park, November 11-13
